Week 2 of the high school football season will kickoff Thursday with at least six games scheduled.

Those games include The Bee’s ninth-ranked Clovis West playing No. 3 Liberty-Bakersfield at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

No. 4 Clovis will host Edison at Lamonica Stadium.

It’s not until Friday when The Bee’s Game of the Week will emanate from Tom Flores Stadium between No. 7 Hanford and No. 8 Sanger.

A big crowd is expected for the early season showdown and that will be one of The Bee’s picks to choose from.

Here are those predictions:

Hanford at Sanger: Intriguing early matchup between the teams and it’s a dandy of a game to look forward to. Fans at Tom Flores Stadium are always loud and Friday’s game will be no exception. Will it be enough? Hanford 36, Sanger 30

Tulare Western at Central Valley Christian: Bounce back for Don Arax and the Cavaliers? We think so. Central Valley Christian 40, Tulare Western 17

Dos Palos at Chowchilla: Really good matchup, but have to go with Tribe here. Chowchilla 27, Dos Palos 23

Kingsburg vs. Clovis East: A trip to Salt Lake City resulted in a win. The Timberwolves faced a good Vikings team, but it’s not going to matter. Clovis East 50, Kingsburg 27

Lemoore at Washington Union: Tough matchup to choose from. The Tigers are coming off a 41-15 victory over Monache while the Panthers will play their season opener. Washington Union 43, Lemoore 40
