It was a bit too much to overcome for Clovis North during the CIF Northern California regional Division 1-AA game against De La Salle-Concord.
The Broncos quickly trailed the Spartans 14-0 in the first quarter and could never recover from the early deficit in a 41-0 loss Friday night.
It was Clovis North’s first loss to finish the season at 13-1.
Still, Broncos coach Mike Jacot is happy how the season went for his team.
“I am very proud of what our guys did,” he said. “They took Clovis North to the next level and have set a standard of excellence and expectation.”
The Broncos were coming off a 24-14 victory over Central in the Central Section Division I championship on Nov. 24, it’s first title since 2012, according to section historian Bob Barnett.
Clovis North then received word from the CIF that it will face De La Salle.
After the game, Jacot shared some words with his players.
“Unfortunately you have to go through some tough losses to take another step,” he said. “I told them how much I appreciated where they have taken the program and for trusting our staff to lead them.”

Jurupa Hills followed with 28 unanswered points.
