The Bee’s picks: Predicting the Fresno-area’s biggest high school football showdowns
In one of the big high school football matchups in the Fresno area this week, The Bee’s No. 2 ranked Clovis North travels to Visalia to face No. 14 Central Valley Christian in the battle of unbeaten teams.
This game will be The Fresno Bee Game of the Week.
The Bee will predict the winner between Clovis North-CVC, along with four other highlighted games.
The Bee is 11-4 for the season.
No. 2 Clovis North (3-0) at No. 14 Central Valley Christian (3-0)
7:30 p.m. Friday
This is a heck of a matchup between these teams.
Can the Broncos stop Cavaliers star running back Bryson Donelson?
Donelson has wreaked havoc against opposing teams, rushing for 701 yards and 12 touchdowns in three games.
The Broncos defense must slow Donelson if they want to come out in the win column.
This is a revenge game for Clovis North, which lost to the Cavaliers 23-9 last season.
The Broncos know bout revenge game, beating San Joaquin Memorial 62-8 in Week 0.
Predictions: Clovis North 34, CVC 26
No. 10 Sanger (2-1) at No. 7 Lemoore (2-1)
7:30 p.m. Friday
Both teams are coming off a tough loss last week.
The Apaches lost to Clovis East 42-21, while the Tigers lost to Clovis West, 27-26.
Lemoore is looking at this game as a rebound game, but so is Sanger.
The stadium will be packed and should be entertaining.
The key to the game is which team will make less turnovers?
Prediction: Lemoore 37, Sanger 33
No. 1 Liberty-Bakersfield (2-1) at No. 15 Buchanan (1-2)
7 p.m. Friday
The Bears need a win badly, losing the past two games.
The Patriots, however, come into the game with a loss, too, to state-ranked Santa Margarita.
This is a tough matchup for Buchanan no matter how you look at it.
Prediction: Liberty 43, Buchanan 23
Tulare Union (2-1) at Garza (2-1)
7 p.m. Thursday
Big matchup for the Guardians against the Tribe
Both are much improved after combining to go 9-14 last season.
Garza barely lost to Righetti 38-36 two weeks ago, while Tulare Union lost a close one to Redwood, 42-35 last week.
Great matchup at Koligan Stadium.
Prediction: Garza 47, Tulare Union 43
Kerman (2-1) at No. 20 Sunnyside (1-1)
7:30 p.m. Saturday
The Wildcats had an early bye after losing to Kingsburg, 20-15, two weeks ago.
The Lions went to Madera last week and rallied to win 28-22.
Another good matchup in the Fresno area, though the Wildcats may be too much for Kerman.
Prediction: Sunnyside 37, Kerman 26
