The Bee’s Top 25 prep football rankings: Many changes, with two teams taking a big drop
Liberty of Bakersfield keeps the top spot in The Fresno Bee’s football rankings for the week of Aug. 21.
It’s the spots after the Patriots that have changed, in some cases dramatically.
Like then-No. 2 Clovis West falling to No. 5 after a 38-28 loss to St. Mary’s of Stockton.
The Golden Eagles also were leapfrogged because new No. 2 Clovis North, No. 3 Clovis East and No. 4 Centennial won their games to move up one spot.
Entering the Top 10 are No. 8 Lemoore, No. 9 Kingsburg and No. 10 Sanger. All three picked up convincing victories.
San Joaquin Memorial started the season No. 6. The Panthers, however, were no match for Clovis North in a 62-8 loss.
Memorial can rebound with a win over No. 6 Central on its turf field. The teams meet at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Edison had the biggest drop in the rankings after it was routed by Kennedy (64-24). The Tigers dropped eight spots to No. 24. Kennedy moved up
