Vote for The Fresno Bee’s High School Football Player of the Year

Voting is now closed.

It was a fun and exciting high school football 2019 season that culminated with seven Central Section champions.

Plenty of players stood out along the way and now is the time to vote on The Bee’s Player of the Year.

The nominated players were also voted on by their respective leagues as players of the year, defensive players of the year or offensive players of the year.

Here are the candidates for our 2019 MVP:

RB Kendall Milton, Buchanan: Milton was voted by Tri-River Athletic Conference coaches as the Player of the Year. The Bears haven’t listed season total stats, but he scored in virtually every game he played though he missed three games.

WR Mac Dalena, San Joaquin Memorial: He was named the County/Metro Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player. He finished the season with 69 receptions for 1,212 yards and 19 touchdowns.

WR Jalen McMillan, San Joaquin Memorial: Voted on by CMAC coaches as the Offensive Player of the Year, McMillan totaled 12 touchdowns to go along with 1,644 receiving yards on 89 receptions.

WR Jeremiah Hunter, Central: Hunter helped the Grizzlies to the CIF Division 1-AA state title and was named the TRAC’s Offensive Player of the Year after finishing with 79 receptions for 1,194 yards and 16 touchdowns.

QB Juaron Watts-Brown, Hanford: The West Yosemite League’s Offensive Player of the Year, Watts-Brown completed 134 of 218 for 2,020 yards and 22 touchdowns.

RB Dai’Jon Giddens, Roosevelt: Giddens carried the load for the Rough Riders and tied a school record when he finished with five touchdowns in the 90th Little Big Game. He was named the North Yosemite League Offensive Player of the Year.

Athlete Mikey Ficher of Tulare Western: Did a little bit of everything for the Mustangs and was named the East Yosemite League’s most valuable player. He completed 8 of 12 for 147 yards and three touchdowns, rushed 78 times for 577 yards and seven touchdowns and 39 receptions for 502 yards and six touchdowns.

Voting concludes at noon Dec. 30.
