Central High celebrates state football championship with parade, rally

The Central High community celebrated the Grizzlies’ first state football championship Thursday afternoon with a parade and rally.

The parade stretched a little over a mile through the area west of Highway 99 from the district office at Gettysburg and Polk avenues to the district’s Koligian Stadium on Grantland Avenue.

Central schools are still in session this week so there were plenty of young supporters along the way as feeder schools assembled along the parade route, then gathered at a rally at the Grizzlies’ home field.

The Grizzlies beat Sierra Canyon-Chatsworth 34-19 Friday night in Norwalk for the California Interscholastic Federation Division 1-AA title.
