Three teams to hit road and one will host in CIF regional football bowl games

If the Central High football team wants to win a state title then it starts on the road.

The same goes for San Joaquin Memorial and Selma, but Caruthers is at home.

Central will hit the road for a California Interscholastic Federation North Regional Division 1-AA matchup against Oak Ridge-El Dorado Hills. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Central (13-0) is coming off a 28-21 victory over Buchanan for its third straight Central Section Division I championship.

The last two seasons, the Grizzlies were knocked out in the regional by Folsom, but Folsom was eliminated this year in the Sac-Joaquin Section semifinals and league rival Oak Ridge advanced.

The Trojans (11-2) defeated Monterey Trail-Elk Grove 35-27 for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championship.

SJM heads to Bay Area

SJM will visit Serra-San Mateo in the North Division 1-A. Kickoff for that game is noon Saturday.

The Panthers (12-1) defeated Tulare Western 35-16 for the Central Section Division II championship.

Serra (12-1) defeated Valley Christian-San Jose 17-0 in a Central Coast Section Division I game.

Other bowl matchups

In Division 4-AA, Selma (11-2) will face Highland-Palmdale (11-3) in the South on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster.

The Bears defeated Washington Union 35-21 for the Central Section Division IV title. Highland defeated North-Torrance 24-12 in the Southern Section Division 9 championship.

Central Section Division V champion Caruthers (13-1) will host Milipitas (7-6) in the North 5-A Division.

The Blue Raiders defeated Dos Palos 27-22 in Division V and Milipitas defeated Branham-San Jose 27-26 in a Central Coast Division IV final.
