It’s 2014, all over again, as Bullard hands Sanger its first CMAC football loss
It had been two years since the Sanger High football team lost a County/Metro Athletic Conference game.
That ended Friday night.
Junior Marcus Fulcher rushed 24 times for 113 yards and three touchdowns as Bullard defeated the defending conference champions 27-6 at Ratcliffe Stadium. Sanger was ranked fifth in The Bee’s Central Section Top 10 coaches’ poll.
When was the last time Sanger lost a conference game? You have to go back to Oct. 31 2014.
And who beat them? The Knights, 20-17 winners that night.
Bullard got a lift after going 1-4 in the nonleague portion of its schedule. The Apaches fall to 5-1 after outscoring the opposition 209-52 in their perfect start.
“We had a rough preseason,” Bullard coach Don Arax said. “Starting a lot of young kids, and we got beat up at times in preseason, and obviously it prepared us for a big game like this. It’s great to kick off league with a win over a great football program like Sanger.”
