Buchanan High students urged fans to wear pink, all for a good cause

Many Buchanan High students, faculty and fans showed up to Thursday’s game against Central wearing pink.

It was part of the school’s efforts to increase awareness of breast cancer.

Even Buchanan players had pink wristbands and towels.

Game officials were given pink whistles.

Bears cheerleaders walked around the stands collecting donations for breast-cancer research.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

One in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, according to NationalBreastCancer.org.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women.
