Central Section girls basketball championships: Previews, rosters and schedule of games
It is Clovis West and Clovis all over again for the Central Section Division I girls basketball crown.
This time it will take place at Selland Arena. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. Saturday. The Golden Eagles will be trying for their 13th straight section championship under coach Craig Campbell.
In two games played in the Tri-River Athletic Conference, the Golden Eagles routed the Cougars. The latest came Feb. 7, when it was 67-48.
The Cougars are led by Sadie Sin and Saiya Sidhu while Clovis West is led by UNLV-bound Alexis Swillis and Keegan Medeiros.
Division II, No. 1 Monache vs. No. 2 Sierra Pacific: The Marauders are seeking back-to-back titles in D-II. The game is a rematch from earlier in the season when Monache defeated the Golden Bears 48-39 on Nov. 26 — after knocking off Sierra Pacific in the playoffs last season. Sierra Pacific is seeking its first section title since 2017.
Division IV, No. 1 Immanuel vs. No. 2 Santa Ynez: The Eagles are seeking back-to-back titles under coach Loren LeBeau. Last season, Immanuel beat Mendota 41-29. The Pirates are looking for their first section title.
Division VI, No. 1 Summit Charter vs. No. 3 Lindsay: The Cardinals last won the D-VI title defeating Torres 53-37. It won’t be easy as Lindsay meets Summit Charter in a rematch. The Cardinals lost to the Bears 39-24 on Dec. 20.
