High school basketball: Clovis North pulls away from Clovis West, plus wild game in CMAC
The win streak remains intact for the Clovis North boys basketball team.
The Bee’s third-ranked Broncos led 70-67 with 2:28 remaining and went on a 9-0 run to defeat No. 2 Clovis West 79-67 in a Tri-River Athletic Conference showdown.
The win gives Clovis North its 10th consecutive victory.
“It was a great win,” Broncos senior point guard Connor Amundsen said. “We’re trying to stack them. It’s always great coming here against a league rival and getting a win. We still got to play them at their place and we’re looking forward to that one. We’re trying to peak for the playoffs and make a run at the section if we can.”
Broncos coach Tony Amundsen said he was proud that his team forced turnovers in the fourth quarter that turned into points.
“Very big win,” he said. “Very proud of our guys. They worked so hard the entire game and stayed connected.”
Both teams will play again at Clovis West on Feb. 9 in what could decide the TRAC champion.
