Thursday’s boys games

Clovis West High, the top seed in the CIF Northern California boys basketball Division I regionals, is out.

Ninth-seeded and visiting Granada-Livermore upset the Golden Eagles 70-62 in overtime in Thursday’s quarterfinal round.

Andrew McKeever, Granada’s 7-footer who is bound for Saint Mary’s, scored 27 points. The Matadors scored the game’s first 10 points, then started overtime with seven straight points. Regulation ended with the teams tied 55-55.

Clovis West finished 30-4 with its other losses to Open Division teams Modesto Christian and Tri-River Athletic Conference co-champion Clovis North.

Two Fresno-area boys teams are still alive.

Sierra, No. 5 in Division V, traveled to Sacramento and beat No. 4 Fortune Early College Prep 57-55. Chieftains 6-foot-4 junior guard Logan Kilbert, already a 2,000-point career scorer, went coast-to-coast for a layup with 3 seconds to go, and Fortune didn’t get a good shot off. Sierra (29-5), the Central Section D-III runner-up, plays Saturday at top-seeded Venture Academy-Stockton. Tipoff is 5 p.m. according to the CIF.

Sixth-seeded San Joaquin Memorial beat No. 14 California-San Ramon 74-59. Mike Davis Jr. scored 21 of his 29 points in the second half for the Panthers (23-9). SJM gets another lesser-seeded opponent in Saturday’s D-II semifinal against No. 7 Weston Ranch-Stockton, which eliminated No. 2 Branson. Tipoff is 7 p.m.

Division I: No. 9 Granada 70, No. 1 Clovis West 62 (OT)

Division II: No. 6 San Joaquin Memorial 72, No. 14 California-San Ramon 59

Division V: No. 5 Sierra 57, No. 4 Fortune Early College Prep-Sacramento 55; No. 3 Ripon Christian 73, No. 6 Kerman 58

Thursday’s girls games

Clovis, Central and Caruthers all advanced to Saturday semifinals.

Central Section D-I runner-up Clovis led 12-11 at the end of the first quarter and never looked back in a 62-58 win at Cardinal Newman-Santa Rosa. The No. 5 Cougars (27-6) play Saturday at 7 p.m. at No. 1 St. Mary’s-Stockton.

Central, which exited the section D-I playoffs in the quarterfinals, Won its second straIght D-II regional by double digits against a Bay Area team. The No. 4 Grizzlies (20-12) play Saturday at 7 p.m. at No. 1 Marin Catholic-Kentfield.

Caruthers took care of the top seed in D-III in emphatic fashion, routing University-San Francisco 95-62. Morgan Trigueiro scored 35 for the No. 9 Blue Raiders and became the school’s career scoring leader passing Brooke Stanley 2001-04). Caruthers, which played up in the section D-I playoffs and lost at Open Division team Clovis West in the quarterfinals, does it again Saturday at No. 5 Granada-Livermore. Tipoff is 5 p.m., according to CIF. Enrollments, according to Public School Review: Granada 2,334; Caruthers 649.

Thursday girls results

Division I: No. 5 Clovis 62, No. 4 Cardinal Newman-Santa Rosa 58

Division II: No. 4 Central 69, No. 5 Moreau Catholic-Hayward 51; No. 3 Monte Vista-Danville 54, SJM 51

Division III: No. 9 Caruthers 95, No. 1 University-San Francisco 62

Division IV: In the SoCal bracket, No. 3 Campbell Hall-North Hollywood 55, No. 6 Porterville 46

Tuesday’s boys games

Top-seed Clovis West High defeated No. 16 St. Ignatius College-San Francisco 78-73 in the opening round of the CIF Northern California boys basketball Division I regionals on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles will next face No. 9 Granada-Livermore on Thursday. Granada defeated Sacred Heart Cathedral 65-58.

In another Division I game, No. 7 Clovis North lost to No. 10 San Ramon Valley 63-59.

Division II: No. 6 San Joaquin Memorial rolled past No. 11 Santa Cruz 76-51 in NorCal. The Panthers will host No. 14 California-San Ramon after the Grizzlies defeated No. 3 Sacramento 69-63.

Division IV: No. 13 Kingsburg lost to No. 4 Monterey 66-55 in NorCal. In the SoCal bracket, No. 16 Tulare Western fell to top-seed Valencia 89-50. No. 5 Porterville lost to No. 12 Beaumont 61-43.

Division V: No. 5 Sierra defeated No. 12 Gridley 71-46 in NorCal. No. 6 Kerman beat No. 11 Vacaville Christian 84-51 and No. 14 Madera South lost to No. 3 Ripon Christian 61-44. Thursday, Sierra plays at No. 4 Fortune Early College Prep-Sacramento and Kerman plays at No. 3 Ripon Christian.

Tuesday’s girls games

Division I: No. 5 Clovis came from behind to defeat No. 12 Vanden-Fairfield 73-71. No. 9 Buchanan fell to No. 8 Bishop O’Dowd-Oakland 70-44. Thursday, Clovis plays at No. 4 Cardinal Newman-Santa Rosa.

Division II: No. 4 Central defeated No. 13 St. Francis-Sacramento 67-53, while No. 11 San Joaquin Memorial rallied to defeat No. 6 Whitney-Rocklin 51-48. Thursday, Central hosts No. 5 Moreau Catholic-Hayward and SJM plays at No. 3 Monte Vista-Danville.

Division III: No. 9 Caruthers defeated No. 8 Evergreen Valley-San Jose 62-51. Thursday, Caruthers plays at No. 1 University-San Francisco. No. 12 Clovis East lost to No. 5 Granada-Livermore 62-60.

Division IV: In the SoCal bracket, No. 6 Porterville defeated Notre Dame Academy-Los Angeles 63-48. Thursday, Porterville plays at No. 3 Campbell Hall-North Hollywood.

Division V: In NorCal, No. 15 Reedley lost to No. 2 Santa Cruz 73-33. No. 14 Tulare Union lost to No. 3 Bret Harte-Angels Camp 58-38. In SoCal, No. 16 Lindsay lost to top-seeded Gahr-Cerritos 51-24.
