Road warriors! Sierra Pacific clinches spot in CIF state basketball final

Sierra Pacific is headed back to the state championship.

And the Golden Bears did it the hard way.

Sierra Pacific, the 11th-seed, knocked off top-seed Colfax 52-39 to advance to this weekend’s CIF Division IV state championship at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

The Golden Bears will play Lancaster at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Golden Bears path to Sacramento included wins on the road against No. 6 Notre Dame-Salinas 72-62, No. 3 Hanford 72-63 and No. 2 Argonaut-Jackson 62-42.

Quite a performance for Amy Bush’s team, which is looking for the school’s second state title.

In 2018, Sierra Pacific defeated Lowell 52-26 for the Division V title.

Clovis season ends at NorCal regional final

No. 2 Clovis couldn’t recover from a halftime deficit.

The Cougars fell to No. 1 Oakland Tech 57-41 in a Division II regional final.

Clovis trailed the Bulldogs 34-15 at the half.
