Luke Dillon, a junior point guard, finished with a game-high 53 points in Sanger High’s 89-39 victory over Madera South in a County/Metro Athletic Conference basketball game on Friday.

His 53 points and 12 3-pointers (on 16 attempts) each established a school record, according to Ron Blackwood, the school’s historian. The Apaches totaled 21 3-pointers, also a school record.

“This definitely could not have been done without my teammates and coaches tonight,” Dillon said. “The credit it due to them. They did an amazing job at finding me the ball when I was open. Also the coaches for trusting me.”

Dillon grabbed 10 rebounds, and had three assists and three steals.

He was 6 of 7 on 2-point baskets and 5 of 8 from the free-throw line.

“Luke is a superior shooter we see everyday at practice,” Sanger coach Al Alvarado said. “He finally got hot and was letting it fly from deep. He has great upside to be Sanger basketball’s best score and leader of all time.”
