Great matchup in Valley boys basketball: No. 1 Memorial vs. No. 3 Bullard
A highlight in-season matchup in Central Section high school boys basketball played out Friday night in a packed San Joaquin Memorial gym: the host Panthers, No. 1 in The Bee’s Top 10, vs. No. 3 Bullard.
The Knights came into the game alone in first place in the County/Metro Athletic Conference. The Panthers ended that.
Memorial bolted to a 17-8 lead en route to a 75-67 victory.
Jalen Green led the Panthers (17-5, 4-1) with 22 points. Among his baskets, two alley-oop dunks. Bullard fell to 17-6 and 4-1.
Memorial, which has split two games with No. 2 Clovis West, will face Salesian College Preparatory-Richmond at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Crush in the Valley at American Canyon High.
