Taking advantage of Buchanan High’s slow start to Tri-River Athletic Conference play, Edison has been elevated to No. 1 in The Bee’s Central Section boys soccer rankings.

The Tigers have opened County/Metro Athletic Conference play with wins over Memorial and Sanger, and haven’t lost since a 2-0 defeat against Reedley on Dec. 19.

The defending section Division I champion Bears, meanwhile, have stumbled out of the gate in TRAC play with ties against Central and Clovis East, and a 3-0 loss to Clovis West on Jan. 15.

On the girls side, Clovis East maintains the top spot after beating heavyweights Buchanan (1-0) and Clovis North (3-2 in double overtime) last week.

The Bears took the biggest tumble in the girls rankings after losses to the Timberwolves and Clovis West (1-0), going from second to sixth.
