The Buchanan boys soccer team, winner of four of the past five Central Section Division I titles, already is operating in championship mode.

The Bears won the Lotto Western Showcase – a tournament that gathers some of the best soccer programs on the West Coast – for the second straight season after defeating Hamilton (Ariz.) 3-0 in the championship Saturday in San Clemente.

Senior goalkeeper Ryan Bray was named tournament MVP while helping the Bears (8-0-1) record their sixth shutout of the season.

Junior midfielder Stephan Morris and junior forward Jacob Rudolph supplied the scoring.

Morris, an all-tournament selection, scored a pair of goals, first with a header then with a shot from 30 yards. Rudolph provided his own header for the game’s first goal.

Senior defender Oliver Dolberg also was named to the all-tournament team as Buchanan finished 2-0-1 at the three-day event. Buchanan defeated Carlsbad 1-0 to start the tournament, then tied Servite 0-0 before playing in the title game.
