Meet The Fresno Bee’s 2025 Softball All-Stars, including Player of the Year

It was a tough 2024 season for Kaia Galaviz.

She started in the circle for Central East and went 11-7 with a 2.09 ERA. That didn’t sit well with her.

Galaviz knew she had to do better for the Grizzlies. Her teammates were counting on her.

Her goal in mind in the offseason was to increase her velocity. It seemed to work out as she helped the Grizzlies to a Tri-River Conference title.

“A lot of good memories,” she said prior to the City/County All-Star softball game at Margie Wright Diamond recently. “Probably my favorite team from behind here at Central. The culture, the girls ... there’s a lot of shy personalities beforehand, but I think this year we really took the team bonding to another level. We all worked really hard this year.”

Galaviz went 20-4 record with a 1.75 ERA. She also had one save.

Galaviz is named The Fresno Bee softball Player of the Year.

“Such an honorable thing,” she said after being told of the accolade. “There’s a lot of great athletes here in the Valley. A lot of talent that doesn’t go unrecognized. To win this award means a lot to me and my family.”

But despite not winning the Central Section title, which is every team’s goal, Galaviz was satisfied with how the season went in what she described as an “underdog” team.

“After the good run we had with our 2024 class, we lost a lot of talent, alot of leadership,” she said. “We had a lot of younger players come up and step up, and they did a great job this year.”

Galaviz’s dominance in the circle also earned her some offers, but ultimately committed to play softball at Seattle University.

“I’m really excited,” she said. “It’s a great opportunity. I found a home for me. I was just patient. I wasn’t going to jump at the first offer I had. I really wanted to be somewhere I could take my (talents) for the next four years.”

Coach of the Year: Ramon Lara, Woodlake

It was a big season for Woodlake.

Lara had plenty of experience to try to top last season.

How can a team top a 29-3 2024 season? Lara gathered his team and knew what the players could bring.

And this season was even better as he led Woodlake to a 30-1 season and 8-0 in the league. The Tigers also won the section Division IV and CIF SoCal Division IV titles.

No doubt a memorable season for Lara and his Tigers.

“Many years of having a good group of girls that work together, and it all came together,” Lara said after the SoCal title. “We’ve had a good core of girls that have played together since they were about 12. ... They’re all juniors and seniors and they’ve become kind of a family where they know each other really well.”

Large School Player of the Year: Zoey Thomas, Jr., Clovis North

Zoey Thomas was productive all season for Clovis North.

She helped the Broncos to a Division I title when she had an RBI. She finished the season leading the Broncos with 30 RBI. She also had six doubles, three triples and a home run.

Medium School Player of the Year: Natalia Delgadillo, Jr., Immanuel

Delgadillo helped Immanuel get a No. 2 seed in the Division IV playoffs, and the Eagles went a 17-6-2 overall record and 8-0 in the Tri-County - Sequoia League.

Delgadillo led Immanuel with a batting average of .516 and had 10 doubles, two triples and 25 RBI in 25 games played.

Small School Player of the Year: Ella Lara, Jr., Woodlake

Woodlake’s dominance through the season can be traced to Lara.

She was productive at the plate with a batting average .537, but she led the team with 41 RBI after 11 doubles and six triples.

She scored 56 times in 82 at-bats.
