Fresno Christian girls soccer secure spot in CIF NorCal Division IV regional championship

The top-seeded Fresno Christian girls soccer team will play for the CIF Northern California Division IV regional championship on Saturday.

Fresno State commit Abigail Herren scored the lone goal in the 25th minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 victory over No. 4 Petaluma on Thursday night at Ramirez Field on the campus of Fresno Pacific. Fresno Christian will face No. 3 Sacred Heart Prep.

“I’ve been coaching for 31 years and this is the group we’ve taken to a regional final,” Fresno Christian coach Matthew Markarian said. “It’s pretty exciting.”

Fresno Christian were aided by goalkeeper Trinity Bannister who recorded 12 saves.

Saturday’s regional championship is set for 3:30 p.m. at Fresno Christian.
