Central scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, helped by Kamana Powell’s two-run double as the top-seeded Grizzlies defeated No. 8 Redwood 4-3 in a Central Section high school softball Division I quarterfinal game on Friday afternoon.

The Rangers didn’t go away quietly in the seventh inning, however, scoring two runs.

Redwood had runners on second and third with two outs, but Central pitcher Sara Barbosa got Kenzi Cantu to pop out to end the game.

The defending champions will next host No. 4 Frontier at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
