New high school teams take the top spot in The Fresno Bee baseball and softball rankings
Following Clovis’ loss to Clovis North in the championship game of the Fresno Easter Classic, the Cougars kicked it up a notch.
Clovis are winners of seven straight, including a sweep over Clovis North in a Tri-River Athletic Conference three-game series.
The sweep sends Clovis to atop of The Fresno Bee rankings.
Clovis North drops to No. 3 behind Liberty-Bakersfield.
The Cougars next meet Clovis East in another three-game series. The Timberwolves dropped out of the rankings after losing nine straight.
Sanger West enters the rankings at 15-7. The Hornets have a two-game series against No. 21 Fresno, starting Tuesday.
On the softball side, Buchanan dropped from No. 1 to No. 7 after losing three straight to No. 5 Central, No. 24 Clovis West and No. 6 Clovis North.
St. Joseph takes over the top spot.
