New team tops The Fresno Bee baseball top 25 rankings, plus softball also sees changes
After capturing the Fresno Easter Classic, the Clovis North baseball team is The Bee’s new top-ranked team.
The Broncos defeated No. 4 Clovis 8-1 at Stan Bledsoe Field last week.
Clovis North replaces Frontier (13-3) which dropped to No. 3. Liberty-Bakersfield remains at No. 2.
The Cougars were previously No. 5 before moving up one spot.
Edison dropped out of The Bee’s rankings. The Tigers were replaced by Garces at No. 25.
Softball has some changes, too.
Buchanan moved up one spot to No. 2 after winning four games at the Clovis Easter Classic.
Clovis North dropped two spots to No. 4 after going 2-2 at the tournament. The Broncos lost to unranked Selma and Madera.
Central meanwhile, moved up two spots to No. 3. The Grizzlies didn’t play last week.
Clovis West and Edison dropped from the rankings. Entering were No. 21 Sanger West and No. 25 Madera.
Sanger West has impressive wins this season, including a win over previously unbeaten No. 16 Woodlake.
