Arely Ayala of Mendota basketball is The Fresno Bee’s Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 12-17.
She finished with 19,312 votes (54%) to finish ahead of Joey Lara of Firebaugh basketball who had 15,491 votes (43%).
Twenty-eight high school athletes were nominated from basketball, soccer and wrestling.
Voting ended at 11:59 p.m. Feb. 25.
