Roosevelt’s Faith Cortez voted the Fresno-area’s Athlete of the Week for Oct. 30-Nov. 4

Faith Cortez of the Roosevelt High volleyball team was voted The Fresno Bee’s Athlete of the Week for Oct. 30-Nov. 4.

Cortez had 1,440 votes (85%).

She finished ahead of Asia Allen of Kingsburg volleyball who had 237 votes (14%).

Thirteen high school athletes were nominated from golf, volleyball and water polo.

Voting ended at 11:59 p.m. Nov. 12.

Recent winners were Alexa Vaca, Sanger cross country; Lake McQuoid, Sierra boys water polo; Asterisk Talley, Chowchilla golf; Evan Torres, Parlier cross country; Riley McDaniels, El Diamante girls cross country; Kinsley Allan, Sanger girls cross country; Vanessa Villavicencio, Sanger West volleyball; Kennedy Cutler, Redwood volleyball; Faith Bakker, Immanuel volleyball; Davin Collazo, Kingsburg girls water polo; and Drew Rhoads, Lemoore water polo.
