CIF swimming: Fresno-area swimmers in events; schedule and how to get tickets

The California Interscholastic Federation state swimming and diving championships return to the Clovis West High pool this week.

Swimmers competed last weekend to qualify for the state meet.

The Fresno area’s top two medal hopes are Clovis West junior Hannah Marinovich, whose Central Section Division I-winning time of 1 minute 1.25 seconds in the girls 100-yard breaststroke is second-fastest on the state psych sheet, and Tulare Union senior Ava Wilson, who checks in at No. 6 in the girls 500 freestyle field.

And Kingsburg freshman Lucas Huckabay qualified with section D-II wins in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke.

Best of the best

Loyola-Los Angeles senior Rex Maurer, a Stanford commit, set the national high school 500 free record at the Southern Section meet and also has the top time in the 200.

Santa Margarita-Rancho Santa Margarita sophomore Teagan O’Dell won both the 200 individual medley and 100 back last year as a freshman and is back with the No. 1 times in each.

And Palo Alto senior Ethan Harrington, also a Stanford commit, looks to defend his titles in the freestyle sprints.
