A section title at last for Clovis North boys soccer in a win over Ridgeview

Clovis North High is again the king of Central Section soccer. Finally.

The Broncos finished off their Central Section playoff run still undefeated after a 3-1 victory over Ridgeview in the section Division I championship Saturday at Clovis East.

Clovis North would have hosted the title game, but heavy rain left its campus field unplayable.

But that didn’t stop the Broncos (24-0-1) from securing a section title for the boys program for the first time since the 2011-12 season, when they defeated Sunnyside for the D-II championship.

“It’s an incredible feeling,” Clovis North coach Cameron Shahrokhi said. “It’s been a long time coming with our program. All the other teams that fell a little short kind of laid the foundation for this group and it’s an amazing feeling.”

Senior forward Bryan Lopez made sure of it by scoring two goals.

It capped a sweep for the Clovis North soccer programs after the girls defeated Liberty-Bakersfield 1-0 on Friday night.
