How Clovis North and Central Valley Christian fared at the state volleyball championships

Clovis North dropped a four-set match to Chaminade-West Hills at the California Interscholastic Federation Division II championship in Orange on Saturday.

The Broncos had tied the match at 1-1 after winning the second set 25-13, but dropped the other sets in a 25-19, 13-25, 25-19, 25-22 loss.

Peyton Bitter and Kennedy Lingenfelter each had 10 kills for Clovis North. Kyra Miller added 39 assists while Ava Rogers led the Broncos with 13 digs.

Clovis North finished in second place in the Tri-River Athletic Conference. The Broncos lost to Liberty-Bakersfield in the semifinals of the Central Section Division I semifinals.

Clovis North was the top seed in the Northern California regionals and advanced with wins over Rio Americano-Sacramento (25-13, 25-19, 18-25, 25-21), Escalon (25-23, 25-16, 25-16), Tamalpais-Mill Valley (25-21, 27-25, 25-18) and University-Sacramento (25-19, 25-20, 17-25, 26-24).

Central Valley Christian falls in state title match

Central Valley Christian fell short of a state title, falling to Ripon Christian 25-19, 27-25, 25-17 in the Division IV match.

The Cavaliers had a chance to even it up in the second set after leading 10-4 before the Knights rallied for the win.

CVC had an impressive run just to get to the state title game after picking up wins over United Christian-Rancho Cucamonga (25-11, 25-12, 25-18), Holtville (25-22, 25-16, 23-25, 26-24), Santa Ynez (25-19, 25-21, 25-2) and Palisades (25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20) in the Southern California regionals.
