Clovis North was in another close high school football game.

But unlike last week when The Bee’s 13th-ranked Broncos lost to Clovis East on a Hail Mary touchdown pass, Clovis North held on Friday night for a 38-35 victory over No. 10 Clovis at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

It sure got intense for Clovis North, though, surrendering two late touchdowns then punting the ball away with 2:15 remaining.

Clovis couldn’t get anything going on its last drive, turning the ball over on downs with 1:25 remaining.

Clovis North had a comfortable 38-21 lead after Trent Rogers’ 60-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter.

No. 11 Lemoore 48, No. 14 Mission Oak 0

Andrew Moench rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns and Anthony Garcia rushed for 102 yards and one score in an East Yosemite League game.

Jayden Evangelo went 6 for 6 on extra points and kicked field goals of 35 and 38 yards.

No. 5 CVC, No. 7 Kingsburg set for showdown

Central Valley Christian and Kingsburg took care of business.

CVC had no trouble against Selma in a 64-13 victory.

Up north, Kingsburg visited Kerman and won 28-0.

The unbeaten teams will meet in Kingsburg likely for the Tri-County-Kings Canyon League title.

The game is 7 p.m. Oct. 14.
