Clovis area standouts Patrick Gasman, Ryan Smith, Zevan Williams and Akash Dhothar helped Pleasant Hill-based Pacific Rim capture a national volleyball championship.

Pacific Rim defeated HBC Black of Southern California 25-21, 25-19 in the final of the 18 Open Division at the Boys’ Junior National championships July 4 in Columbus, Ohio.

Gasman and Smith, who shared Bee Boys Volleyball Player of the Year honors, graduated from Buchanan High in June. Gasman will play next season at Hawaii, while Smith is headed to Stanford. The former Bears were also part of a national champion with Pacific Rim last summer.

Williams and Dhothar will be juniors at Clovis in the fall. Williams was an All-Bee selection.
