Bee’s Best: Buchanan’s Drake Phillips wins The Bee’s Boys Athlete of the Week poll for May 9-14

Drake Phillips of Buchanan High baseball wins The Fresno Bee Boys Athlete of the Week poll for May 9-14.

Phillips had 23,944 votes (57%) to win the recent poll.

He finished ahead of Bryce Painter of Granite Hills golf who totaled 16,442 votes (39%).

Coming in third was Nico Reed of Washington Union baseball (529, 1%).

The 28 athletes nominated came from baseball, golf, swimming, tennis, track and field and volleyball.

The poll closed at 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

Recent winners include: Orion Tomlinson of Fresno Christian basketball, Camden Thompson of Clovis East basketball, Landon Almeida of Caruthers basketball, Ismael Gonzalez of Riverdale soccer, Beunju Moon of Lemoore basketball, Luke Karle of Sanger basketball, Jackson Young of Clovis West basketball, Adam Delgado of Kerman baseball, Collin DeBorde of Clovis North baseball, Derek McNary of Hanford baseball, Gio Chavez of Lindsay baseball, Brayden Rhodes of Reedley baseball, Zack Jones of Kings Christian baseball, Jerod Smith of Fowler baseball, Ayden Olivares of Kerman baseball, Evan Torres of Parlier track and field and Parker Dominguez of Fowler swimming.
