Fresno-area prep baseball: Top 25 rankings; a perfect game; top matchups this week
Immanuel and Monache make their debut in The Fresno Bee’s high school baseball rankings this week.
Immanuel picked up two wins last week, including a 6-1 victory over then-No. 13 Kingsburg.
Kaleb Brett, Calob Hayes and Nolin Santillan led the way when they each had an RBI. Joseph Juarez went the distance for Immanuel, allowing three hits, one earned run and two walks with 12 strikeouts.
Immanuel will face Dinuba, Selma and Hanford West this week.
Monache continues to roll, posting double-digit runs in the past eight games. The Marauders have a key East Yosemite League matchup against Porterville this week.
The Bee’s Top 10 remains the same. Last week, No. 3 Bullard defeated Madera South, Madera and Edison.
Around the horn
▪ Kerman has one the top pitching combos in the Central Section with ace Devon Daniel and Adam Delgado behind him. Delgado got the start against Chowchilla and had six strikeouts in a 6-0 victory. He also drove in a run. It was Delgado’s second complete game this season.
▪ Fresno continues to roll in the North Yosemite League, backed by Dominik Espinoza’s one-hitter with nine strikeouts in the Warriors’ 10-0 victory over McLane.
▪ JT Guerrero threw a three-hitter and had seven strikeouts to lead Mt. Whitney past El Diamante 9-2. He also drove in three runs.
▪ Aidan Jackson had a perfect game against Laton in a 7-0 victory. Jorge Reyes sparked the offense with a inside-the-park home run.
▪ Immanuel pitcher Joseph Juarez kept Kingsburg at bay when he finished with a three-hitter and 12 strikeouts in a 6-1 victory.
▪ Charlie Monterrosa and Max Mendes had a combined no-hitter to lead San Joaquin Memorial to a 9-1 victory over Edison. Monterrosa struck out five and Mendes had two strikeouts.
▪ Jace Vargas of Central Valley Christian tossed a no-hitter and had 12 strikeouts in a 7-0 victory over Selma. He only allowed one walk.
On deck
Here are some key games this week:
▪ Bullard will host San Joaquin Memorial in a key County/Metro Athletic Conference game at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Both teams enter Tuesday’s game at 3-0 in the CMAC.
▪ In North Sequoia League play, Kerman hosts Liberty-Madera Ranchos. Entering Tuesday’s game, the Lions are 3-0 and the Hawks 2-1 in the NSL.
▪ Farmersville hosts Strathmore at 4 p.m. Thursday. Entering Tuesday’s games, Strathmore is 2-0 in the East Sequoia League while Farmersville is 2-1.
▪ Porterville faces visiting Monache in a battle of two top teams in the East Yosemite League. First pitch is 4:30 p.m. Friday.
▪ Tri-River Athletic Conference will start play April 5 with three-game series.
