Bee’s Best: Athena Tomlinson is the Girls Athlete of the Week winner for Jan. 10-15

Athena Tomlinson of Clovis West basketball is the winner for The Bee’s Girls Athlete of the Week for Jan. 10-15.

She received 51,325 votes (86%) to finish ahead of Lilia Haynes of Sunnyside basketball who picked up 6,729 votes (11%). Finishing third was Jacksen Olson of Bullard soccer who finished with 1,051 votes (2%).

It is the second time Tomlinson earned Athlete of the Week honors.

She totaled 32 points and made seven 3-pointers in the Golden Eagles’ 94-25 win over Clovis North.

Twenty athletes were nominated.

The nominees were from basketball and soccer.

The poll closed at noon Saturday.
