Meet The Bee’s Top 35 high school volleyball players in the Fresno area.
The Bee factored individual statistics, team success, all-league honors and submissions from coaches in creating its All-Bee Team.
Large School Player of the Year
Clovis junior outside hitter Sydnie Vanek was consistent all season.
The multi-purpose athlete led the Cougars in kills with 435 including 23 against Clovis West in the Central Section Division I semifinals.
For the season, Vanek had 20 aces, 37 blocks and 78 digs as Clovis went 27-9 overall and 7-3 in the Tri-River Athletic Conference. TRAC coaches named her league Player of the Year.
Medium School Player of the Year
Central Valley Christian senior outside hitter Grace Van Der Kooi led her team to a Central Section Division I appearance.
All season, she was the Cavaliers’ leader in kills with 328.
Coaches said she’s been a four-year starter as an outside hitter and described her “as an incredible athlete that goes all out for every ball.”
Van Der Kooi led CVC to a Central Sequoia League title and was named the most valuable player.
Small School Player of the Year
Sierra Pacific junior middle blocker/outside hitter Ashlan Vangronigen led her team to a 27-7 overall record and 12-0 in the East Sequoia League. She was ESL MVP.
Vangronigen sent Sierra Pacific to the Central Section Division III semifinals before losing to Buchanan.
