Bee’s Best: Briajane Wade is The Bee’s Athlete of the Week winner for Dec. 13-18
Briajane Wade of Sunnyside basketball is the winner of The Bee’s Athlete of the Week poll for Dec. 13-18.
It was a close race between Wade and Aaliyah Thompson of Corcoran basketball.
Wade picked up 44,336 votes (46%) ahead of Thompson who totaled 42,897 votes (44%).
Carter Glick of Mt. Whitney basketball came in third with 5,665 votes (65).
Wade scored a career-high 36 points and was 10 of 14 from the free-throw line in a 56-33 win over Madera. She also had six steals.
Thirty-two athletes were nominated.
The nominees are from basketball, soccer and wrestling.
The poll closed at noon Saturday.
