Bee’s Best: Who is the winner of the boys and girls Athlete of the Week for Oct. 4-9?
Gabby Russell of Clovis West volleyball is the winner of The Bee’s Athlete of the Week for Oct. 4-9.
She picked up 20,521 votes (54%), finishing ahead of Belicia Machicote of Clovis West water polo who had 14,269 votes.
Coming in third was Canyon Johnson of Strathmore water polo (2,818, 7%).
Fifteen athletes in cross country, golf, volleyball, tennis and water polo were nominated.
The poll closed at noon Saturday.
Past winners: Grace Van Der Kooi of Central Valley Christian volleyball, Katelyn Goforth of Kerman volleyball, Andrew Gray of Madera water polo, Krisalynn Turman of Caruthers volleyball, Margaret Arambula of Mission Oak volleyball and Kristen Landen of Clovis West volleyball.
Fall coaches may submit nominations with stats from this week’s action to agalaviz@fresnobee.com.
