The Junior League of Fresno is recognizing 24 high school senior girl student-athletes from the Fresno area.

The annual awards recognize a girl from each selected school for combined achievement in athletics, academics and citizenship.

Each honoree is presented with a scholarship and a plaque. That usually happens at a spring banquet, but not this year because of the coronavirus pandemic. For 2020, honors will be made with proper social distancing.

The Junior League’s mission is developing the next generation of female civic leaders in the Central Valley. Toward that goal, Dorothy “Dottie” Rohlfing approached the Junior League with a proposal to recognize high school girls, and the annual Senior Girl Athlete award was started in 1981.
