Central Section honors 26 as CIF scholar athletes. Here are the winners

The Central Section named 26 California Interscholastic Federation scholar athletes for the 2019-20 school year.

Winners are chosen from nominations submitted by leagues – three boys and three girls from each. A section committee selects the winners based on 50% athletics, 35% grade-point average and 15% community service, section commissioner Jim Crichlow said.

Typically, a banquet is held to celebrate the scholars, but that was canceled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Central Section office said winners will receive a check for $500 and an acrylic award.
