Wrestler Tristan Lujan of Selma is the winner of the seventh Fresno Bee high school winter sports Player of the Week.
It was a close race between Lujan and Maximo Renteria of the Buchanan wrestling team.
Lujan totaled 13,704 votes (32%) to Renteria’s 12,058 (28%).
Other voting results included Jaden Geron of San Joaquin Memorial basketball (21%), Cristelle Rodriguez of Buchanan wrestling (8%), Giano Petrucelli of Clovis wrestling (5%), Tyus Parrish-Tillman of Fresno Christian basketball (4%), Jacklyn Kulow of Caruthers basketball (1%) and Jose Martinez of Kingsburg basketball (1%).
Voting ended at 5 p.m. Friday.
Lujan capped his wrestling career as a two-time state champion. He defeated No. 8 Laz Maldonado of Clovis West 7-1 for the title at 120 pounds.
