Vote for FresnoBee.com’s high school player of the week for winter sports

This week’s voting is now closed.

The first Fresno Bee Player of the Week poll for high school winter sports is open until 5 p.m. Friday.

You can vote often as you want at fresnobee.com/high-school.

Here are the nominees from last week’s performances:

Luke Dillon, Sanger boys basketball: The junior point guard netted school records of 53 points and 12 3-pointers in the Apaches’ 89-39 victory over Madera South in a County/Metro Athletic Conference game. He helped Sanger total 21 3-pointers to tie for second-most by a team in Central Section history, according to section historian Bob Barnett. Dillon’s 53 points ties him with three other players for third-most points in the section, and his 25 points in the fourth quarter are the second-most in the section.

Makayla Carre, Sierra Pacific girls basketball: The freshman scored 12 of her 16 points in the fourth quarter to lead Sierra Pacific to a 72-64 victory over San Joaquin Memorial. She had briefly left the game because of a knee injury and returned in the final quarter to spark the win for the Golden Bears.

Chloe Van Ness, Clovis girls basketball: Van Ness scored 14 points in the Cougars’ 80-51 victory over Central. Van Ness reached the 1,000-point club, Barnett said. Also joining the 1,000-point club was junior Nikki Tom of Clovis West against Clovis East last Friday.

Alyssa Wheeler, Clovis North girls soccer: The sophomore scored the winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Clovis, and had a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Central as the Broncos remained undefeated.

Breanna Hurt, Kerman girls basketball: The senior scored 29 points in a 72-47 victory over Sierra. She followed that up with 16 points in a 52-21 win over Chowchilla. Hurt is rolling toward 2,000 points for her career, Barnett said.

Nominations can be sent on Twitter to Fresno Bee Sports or Anthony Galaviz. When nominating, please include a head-and-shoulders photo of the player.
