Fall signing day is here. Check out where Valley athletes are heading to college
Many central San Joaquin Valley high school athletes put pen to paper as they signed their National Letter-of-Intent on Wednesday.
At least five who signed Wednesday are headed to Fresno State, including three recruited by baseball coach Mike Batesole: Sunnyside High pitcher Jose Lemus, Garrett Cooper of Clovis North and Jared Holaday of Lemoore.
Sanger High’s Vanessa Hernandez will continue her softball career with Fresno State.
And Janie Ellis of Clovis West will play for the Fresno State tennis team. She is coming off a third consecutive section championship – the last player to win three or more consecutive championships dating back to 1983-’86, according to section historian Bob Barnett. She is also the first player in Clovis Unified to win two or more consecutive titles, Barnett said.
