Central beats Buchanan in five-set girls volleyball showdown

Mark you calendar now: Thursday, Oct. 19.

That’s when Central High and Buchanan meet in the second round of Tri-River Athletic Conference girls volleyball play.

The teams, Nos. 1 (Central) and 2 (Buchanan) in the MaxPreps Central Section computer rankings, played an epic five-set match Tuesday night at Buchanan. Central won 25-17, 19-25, 25-16, 18-25, 15-11.

Makayla Lewis led the way for Central with 16 kills and Amethyst Harper added 10. Kennedy Rice had 23 kills and Ashley Dittman 12 for Buchanan.

Central is 30-2 overall and 3-0 in the TRAC. Buchanan is 25-5 and 2-1.
