Central Section Division I baseball champion Clovis High and runner-up Buchanan are the highest-ranked California teams in the MaxPreps top 50 announced Monday.
Clovis (25-7-1), which beat Buchanan 2-1 on May 27 for the title, rose seven spots since the previous rankings to No. 21. Buchanan (28-4), which had been No. 1 at midseason but slid outside the top 25, also rose seven spots, to No. 22.
Two other California teams are in the top 25, No. 24 Eastlake-Chula Vista and No. 25 El Toro-Lake Forest. Shawnee, Okla., is No. 1 with a 40-0 record.
There are a few teams nationally still playing, but it’s likely there won’t be much more shuffle in the rankings.
