Fresno State hosting Blackout football game Sept. 19 against Utah
Fresno State is going to be back in black this fall.
The Bulldogs football team will wear all-black uniforms for its Sept. 19 game against Utah at Bulldog Stadium.
Two years ago, the Bulldogs had their first Blackout game – and fans responded by selling out 41,031-seat Bulldog Stadium for the second time during that special season. That night against Nevada, quarterback Derek Carr broke Kevin Sweeney’s 27-year-old record for career passing yards and the No. 16-ranked Bulldogs crushed the Wolf Pack 41-23 for their eighth consecutive victory in an eventual 11-2 season.
Fresno State also set merchandise sales records, pushing $240,000 for the week at the Bulldog Shop. A normal week during the football season, officials said then, might bring in $60,000 to $65,000 while a good week would be about $90,000 to $100,000.
The Bulldogs also wore black uniforms to close the 2014 regular season, a 28-21 victory over Hawaii at Bulldog Stadium.
Single-game tickets for the Utah game start at $34, though Fresno State is offering a group rate of $27 each for groups of 10 or more while three- and four-game mini plans also are available through the Bulldog ticket office. The group package rate for the Utah game also includes a concession voucher (available for purchase only over the phone).
The group rate deal expires Monday, Sept. 14.

An earlier version of this report incorrectly stated that the Bulldogs last wore their all-black uniforms in 2013.
