Fresno State fall camp profile: WR Justin Johnson

A closer look at Fresno State inside wide receiver Justin Johnson.

▪ Year: Senior

▪ Height/weight: 6-1/212

▪ Hometown: Gardena

▪ High school: St. John Bosco

▪ 2014 review: Played every game last season and had eight receptions for 72 yards, including a touchdown against Hawaii.

▪ What they’re saying: “First off, for him, he has to be a leader. We’ve got a bunch of young guys surrounding him. We’ve got a full room of freshman that are either a redshirt freshman or true freshmen, you got one junior that’s a a walk-on. The room is full of young’uns, and the leadership part of it is huge for him. He’s done a great job over the summer and in this fall, just being a leader with this group, just trying to set an example and talking to them when he needs to. When we’re in meetings, he knows the answer to the questions and so I have to tell them, ‘Hey, everybody but Justin answer this question.’ It’s a great mix of young guys that have talent and it’s good to have Justin around to be that leader that you need.” – Inside WRs coach Phil Earley

▪ Johnson on 2015 outlook: “I like to implement what we had a couple years ago – going 1-0 each week, just taking it one team at a time and focusing on that because you cannot look down the road. If you can take care of each team one week at a time, the championship will be there. We’re expecting to win that this year. Even though some people have doubts, as a team, in our camp we don’t have any doubts about winning a championship. We just have to come out here and put the work in.”
