CBS Sports is projecting Fresno State to play Texas Christian at the Liberty Bowl on Jan. 2.

The Bulldogs (6-3 overall, 3-2 Mountain West) were bowl eligible after picking up a 30-7 victory over Boise State on Nov. 1.

In 2005, Fresno State lost to Tulsa 31-24 in Memphis, Tenn. That was the Bulldogs’ last appearance.

Fresno State remains in contention to play for the Mountain West championship with three games remaining.

Nonetheless, two ESPN writers are predicting the Bulldogs to play in the Arizona Bowl, either against Miami (Ohio) or Toledo. Athlon Sports agreed, but said Central Michigan would be the opponent.

The Arizona Bowl is played on Dec. 27 in Tucson, Ariz.

Anything can change from now to the end of the season, but one thing is certain: Fresno State will be playing in a bowl game.
