Fresno State football coach Matt Entz recently got the team together and gave a speech of what he is expecting from them.

He split the team with the offense on one side and the defense on the other.

Before that, players said hello and hugged each other before sitting down to listen to their new coach.

Assistants also were there and introduced themselves before Entz gave a speech that was shared on social media and lasted 1 minute, 25 seconds.

Entz was hired in early December.

Here are some of the excerpts:

“This program is on the rise. I truly believe it because of the people that are in this room.”

“We have so many new faces. New coaches, new people.”

“You wouldn’t be here if someone didn’t believe in you. Guys I believe in you. I believe this can be a championship football team again. It’s OK for you to believe in that. It’s OK to believe in your teammates.”

“There is a 13-month plan. The Mountain West championship is on that calendar. There are 41,000 fans in the stadium every weekend because of the foundation that was laid way before us. We have a responsibility. We belong to a community that is greater than 100 or so guys in here. We’re part of the Bulldog family.”

“Every former player, all coaches, all the people that are associated are part of that community. Standard is the standard. It’s the minimum that’s tolerated. Now it’s our job to continue to obey the standard. We’re going to take it one at a time. Our best ball is going to be in November, December. Gotta have great effort. If we have execution and effort, we can do whatever we want.”

Fresno State coaches are on the recruiting trail now before spring football practice begins in March.
