Red Wave greets Fresno State following a Mountain West title in Boise. ‘A blessing’
Approximately 200 Fresno State fans endured a downpour Saturday night and greeted the Bulldogs football team as it returned to campus.
The Bulldogs landed in Fresno around 8:24 p.m. and were led by an escort of Fresno Police and Fresno State Police as three buses turned into the parking lot near the Duncan Athletic building in the rainstorm.
Earlier in the day, Fresno State defeated Boise State 28-16 to win the Mountain West title for the first time since 2018.
“We’re here to celebrate Fresno State,” Fresno resident Joe Gonzalez said. “Another four years later, we’re back here again. Now we’re champs again.”
Bulldogs quarterback Jake Haener signed many autographs and took selfies with fans and told them he’s going to take a couple days off before they prep for the L.A. Bowl. An official announcement will be made on Sunday afternoon.

One of the stars Saturday was wideout Nikko Remigio, who returned a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown.
He was amazed at the turnout by the fans.
“This speaks to the city and culture of the program,” he said. “It’s a blessing to be a part of. I thank the people of Fresno, the university for welcoming me in and making this an unbelievable experience.”
