Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers were pleased to learn that Jeff Tedford returned to Fresno State as the head coach.

Both NFL quarterbacks spoke about Tedford’s return during their press conference’s on Wednesday.

But Carr wasn’t aware that Tedford had inked a deal to return as the Bulldogs coach.

“Did he get it,” Carr asked a reporter. “Is it official? Oh, yeah, I love Teddy. I hope he’s there forever.”

Tedford resigned as the Bulldogs coach at the end of the 2019 season because of heart-related health issues.

He said he’s feeling better and “the last year, I knew I was going to get back into football. because it’s just in my blood. It’s who I am. I’m a football coach.”

Tedford, 60, returns after Kalen DeBoer left for Washington.

Rodgers, who was Tedford’s quarterback at Cal, was excited for Tedford and his wife, Donna.

“I was thinking, man if he’s healthy, I bet he’s itching to get back into into coaching because he’s a ball coach,” Rodgers said. “He loves that school. We had a blast at Berkeley working together, and he’s such an important part of the rebuilding of the football program and the advancement that happened at Cal.

“He’s such a important reason for so many guys who came there and helped the program flourish, but I think his heart has always been at Fresno and I’m excited to have him back there and be back in the coaching ranks and can’t wait to to talk to him and congratulate him.”
