Bulldogs fill holes in 2021 and ’22 football schedules with home-and-home series against UConn

While tweaking future football schedules to create some fits for potential matchups with Power Five conference opponents, Fresno State on Monday announced it has plugged the two most pressing holes it has with a home-and-home series with FBS independent Connecticut.

The Bulldogs will play the Huskies at home on Aug. 28, 2021 and on the road on Oct. 1, 2022.

The cross-country trip could cause some issues given the date – Fresno State could be in or about to start Mountain West play. It is expected to request from the conference a home date following the game at UConn.

The home-and-home series fills out the Bulldogs’ 2021 and ‘22 non-conference schedules.

In 2021 they will play UConn (Aug. 28), at Oregon (Sept. 4), Cal Poly (Sept. 11) and at UCLA (Sept. 18). In conference play the Bulldogs will have Boise State, Nevada, New Mexico and UNLV at home.

In 2022 they play Sacramento State (Sept. 3), Oregon State (Sept. 10), at USC (Sept. 17) and at UConn (Oct. 1). In conference play Hawaii, San Diego State, San Jose State and Wyoming will play at Bulldog Stadium.

UConn this season went 2-10, 0-8 in its final season in the American Athletic Conference. The Huskies will play as an independent starting in 2020.
