Abbs, listed at 6 feet 5 inches and 280 pounds, made his decision Tuesday evening and said he is solid on his commitment.
“With the new coaching staff, things have turned around,” Abbs said. “I’m thinking they’re going to have a great future.”
Abbs is the 11th player to commit to Fresno State for 2018. Verbal commitments are nonbinding and coaches cannot comment until players have sign their national letter-of-intent.
The Gresham, Oregon, native said he was in San Jose as Fresno State defeated the Spartans 27-10 and took a trip to Bulldog Stadium as the Bulldogs blanked New Mexico 38-0 in a homecoming game on Oct. 14.
San Jose State, Colorado State and Northern Arizona were the other schools that made offers to Abbs.
Abbs has started all six games this season, helping the Rams to a 4-2 record and 1-0 in the Valley Conference heading into Saturday’s game at Modesto Junior College.
